IBM Watson IoT™
Mark Williamson, BSc (Hons), CSEP, MINCOSE, leads the Systems Engineering Business Group, responsible for the delivery and support of IBM Watson IoT™ solutions and associated services. Mark has an engineering background with 23 years’ service in the Royal Air Force, providing both direct and support roles for airborne radar systems on a variety of aircraft. He also served on software teams in both test and software maintenance roles.
Since joining SyntheSys in 2005, he has gained significant experience with IBM® solutions for software and systems engineering, and is a certified IBM® Rational® DOORS® professional. This experience enables Mark to support clients in identifying the ideal IBM® solutions that meet their engineering requirements, implementing the solution, and providing mentoring for the products. His systems engineering credentials have been recognised by INCOSE CSEP certification in 2013. He is now delivering Systems Engineering and CSEP preparation training to future candidates.
Consultant Matt Mendell, ASEP (Associate Systems Engineering Professional), is currently on secondment to SyntheSys from IBM®, where he is employed as Product Specialist / Technical Pre-Sales. With IBM® he has spent much time working on-site with customers, assisting them with the configuration of the tools and helping them to improve and implement their processes.
Matt has in-depth knowledge of the IBM Watson IoT™ toolset and has a wealth of experience working with a variety of different customers on the implementation of new IBM® tools, whilst advising customers on how they can further enhance tool usage within development teams. Matt has only ever received positive customer feedback and has a talent for creative problem solving. His broad knowledge of computer systems, teamed with his analytical skills makes him an asset to the Systems Engineering team.
Principal Consultant Richard Hesketh is an IBM® Rational® Tools specialist, with 19 years' experience of using, teaching, administering and customising DOORS®. In addition to DOORS®, he has deep skills in DOORS® Next Generation and Rational Publishing Engine, as well as experience of Rational® Quality Manager, Rational® Performance Tester and Rational® Functional tester. He was part of the team that created and developed the DOORS® HealthCheck service offering associated tools.
Richard has managed requirements in Ministry of Defence (MOD) programmes and acted as a requirements engineer, business analyst, and requirements manager on diverse projects. He has also participated in and led requirements gathering and information architecture workshops for more than ten years.
Richard has also worked as a solution architect and technical specialist on many IBM® Rational® tools deployments including DOORS® and the Rational® Solution for Collaborative Life cycle Management.
Richard is a professional member of the British Computer Society and of the UK chapter of INCOSE.
